Hours had passed since they started their trip. They had passed so much that Operal didn't know where they were anymore. She watched as she city vanished from sight. They soared through trees while avoiding collisions. Something caught her eye, making herself peel her head from Edain’s back.
“Edain! Slow down!” Operal shouted, squeezing him slightly. Alarmed, Edain immediately slowed then looked back at Operal.
“What is it?” Edain asked, not being able to tell if something was wrong with her helmet on. Operal let go of him and struggled to take the helmet off. “Operal, don't -” With a pop her head escaped the helmet but she started falling back. “Hey!” Edain quickly reached back with one arm to catch her. Operal blinked a little in surprise then laughed nervously. Edain narrowed his eyes in disapproval. “Don't let go.”
“But look.” Operal gestured around. Edain looked around to find they were hovering above water. The colors changed as they passed. Green, blue, pink, orange, yellow danced in the ripples of the passing water. As Edain was distracted Operal reached over him and tapped the panel on the bike.
“Hey, don't mess with that.” Edain scolded as he struggled to keep the bike from swerving off course.
“I just put it on auto pilot.” Operal said, returning to her seat. Edain looked at the panel, seeing that she had then looked back at Operal, suspicious.
“Why?” Edain asked. Operal put the helmet in Edain’s bag then pulled out her stick from her pocket. “What are you doing with that?” Operal simply smiled then touched the glowing lines to extend her glaive. She grabbed his waist with one hand then leaned over the edge of the bike. “Wai~~ don't do that!” Operal let the blade slightly touch the surface of the water and it sprayed off the other end. Edain watched the rainbow as it appeared in front of him.
“See? It's so much fun.” Operal giggled as she watched the water spray. “I have another idea!” Though Edain’s instinct told him to put Operal back on the bike and drive off but he felt himself grow more curious to her idea. He sighed and gave in.
“What?” Edain asked, smiling back at her. Operal sat up right.
“You will go first.” Operal told him matter-o-factly. “Change spots with me.”
“On a moving bike?” Edain groaned then rolled his eyes. “F-fine!” Operal and Edain scooted back then Operal crawled over Edain awkwardly. She turned to face him and handed him the blade end of the glaive.
“Ride the water. I'll pull you with this.” Operal spoke but her words only made Edain panic.
“ Are you insane?” Edain blurted out. Operal tilted her head to one side with a confused expression. “Ugh… Nevermind.” Edain grabbed where the blade and the pole met with his cybernetic hand. “Ok… Now what?”
“Keep your legs straight and don't let go.” Operal instructed, placing her feet hard against the bike’s foot rest.
“That's funny coming from you.” Edain grumbled.
“Go!” Operal shouted excitedly. Edain took a deep breath then slid off the back of the bike. Operal held her end of the glaive tight. Soon Edain’s feet made waves in the water. “It worked!” Operal laughed, holding onto the glaive. Edain slowly started laughing with her, feeling the adrenaline pump through his veins. He reached out with his other hand to feel the spray on his skin. Operal moved the pole from side to side, pulling him along in the shape of an S. Soon Operal pulled him back to the bike and he climbed up. “My turn!” The two switched places. With Operal at the blade end she jumped back into the water as Edain held the pole. “This is so much fun!” Edain laughed at her reaction, feeling himself enjoy himself for the first time in a long time. Then Edain noticed a rock pass under the bike towards Operal.
“Operal, watch out!” Edain called but Operal didn't noticed the rock. She tripped over it and let go of the glaive, disappearing in the water. “Operal!” Edain turned to the panel and took it off auto, retracting the glaive in one hand. He circled back around, stopping the bike over the area where she vanished. “Operal?” He leaned down close to the water. A hand emerged, grabbing his coat then pulled him into the water. Operal surfaced and shook her head, trying to rid herself of the water in her hair. Edain soon followed and wiped his face before looking at Operal. Operal covered her mouth to try and conceal laughter. “Oh… Think it's funny to pull people into pools, huh?” Operal tried to shake her head but her laughter got the better of her. Edain slowly swam over to her then dunked her under the water. “Think that is funny?” When Operal came back up she laughed more then splashed Edain. The Alchemist and the Bard ch 1Alone in a dark room, the only light came from the glow of a cybernetic hand. Some of the wires in the hand glowed as it flipped through a large book. The hand stroked a chin, illuminating the owners features. Green eyes stared down at the pages, light tan skin and a small scar above his right eye. He ran his hand through his hair, exposing the chip and three tube like holes on the right side of his head.
“Need more materials.” He groaned. With that he shut the book and adjusted his sleeve to hide the cybernetic arm. He walked over to the window and looked out. Across the street was a person huddled over, watching where he was. “She’s still there…” His voice expressed his annoyance. He took another glance at the book he had left in the dark and sighed. “No choice.” With that he walked to the door and opened it. He quickly walked down the sidewalk, trying to be fast. He took a look behind him and the person was keeping their d
